This book is about the full width and depth of Information Technology. In the preface the author declares that he is addressing the empty centre between management and technologists. In a sense this book is for both sides. The technologists know the technology but perhaps they need to think more carefully about how this relates to the needs of management. On the other hand management is often floundering in a sea of new technology with no idea as to how it might relate to their problems.

The book has been around for more than three years but stands up well to the test of time. The details may change but the fundamentals remain (however much the technologists like to think otherwise). Unfortunately, as far as I can determine the title is not marketed in Europe. Certainly Manning had to arrange for my review copy to be shipped direct from the USA.

If you are concerned about (or even responsible for) technological change in your company this might be a book to get, read and pass on to others, particularly those whose thinking is not rigid even though it may be conservative (management) or overly adventurous (technologists).
